An MIT education addressed 3 major aspects: skill, knowledge and formation. Student are taught the skills or Sadhan, to help them communicate at every level of the design process. Knowledge or philosophy, equivalent to the Indian principle of Sadhana, established the base of reference for students to draw from through their development. Formation, or Sadhya, is the principle the totality of learning in action. This wider perspective on education informs the creative environment at MIT and helps students to explore new territories within a collaborative, supportive learning environment.
